Wonder Years: Honesty at 4?!

My wife, Cheryl, asked me the ever rhetorical and often nerve-wracking question, “Do you know what your son did today?”

Well, immediately, two thoughts occurred to me. “Your son” is nearly always a universal indicator of not-so-great news. Additionally, since she used the past tense, I wondered about his welfare.

What the heck, I’m a bit of a risk-taker, so I replied, “No, what?”

Evidently while my wife was transporting the kids home from an event along with a friend and her two kids (two boys roughly about the same ages as our two children, 7 and 4), our four year old son leaned over in his car seat, looked at his friend riding in an adjacent car sent, and said,

”Smell my burp.”

Laughter ensued.
